After introducing UPI(Unified Payment Interface) by Govt of India, there has been a significant increase in number of transactiona in digital mode. But, For Railway Ticket Booking at the counter, people almost pay by cash. According to reports, 97% of payments were being made by cash and only 3% payments by Credit/Debit cards.
As lakhs of tickets will be booked by people across India, this is one area where with little effort, Govt can increase the number of digital transactions. And it’s very difficult for Railway officials to store cash. To avoid this, Govt is making UPI option available at all reservation counters from Dec 1st.
How to Pay Via UPI at Reservation Counters :
All you have to do is to download and BHIM App on your mobile and pay via UPI at counter while booking ticket.
As of now, only payment via UPI will be accepted and a new feature where one can pay via scanning QR Code will be rolled out soon
This is a good initiative by Govt of India and hope to see a good increase in number of digital transactions in near future.
